We have a number of volunteer opportunities. Here is a list of activities that may be of interest. To sign up to volunteer, you can call 604-970-8404 or email r.davies(at)shaw.ca Please indicate your preferred days and times that you would be available.

Invasive plant species removal

This is one of our primary activities, occuring both at work parties at the Stewardship Center as well as locations throughout the watershed. Work parties are usually 1-4 hours in length and are suitable for all ages.

KEEPS hosts a number of public events during the year, including the spring Goodbye Chums event as well as the Maple Ridge Fall Classic Return of the Salmon at the fish fence. We will familiarize you with the activities of these events. It's easy and a whole lot of fun!

Meetings and gatherings

If you are curious to find out what we are up to, you are welcome to attend our once per month meetings at the Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Center, normally the first Thursday of each month at 7PM. You can also participate in our once per month Open Houses at the Stewardship Center!

Education Programs

KEEPS hosts a variety of programs during the year to all grade levels, with an average program attendance of 5,000 or more. Volunteers are always welcome. You would assist the Program Interpreter with program delivery at the Stewardship Center as well as at various locations in the field throughout the watershed.

Bell-Irving Hatchery

The facility is legendary in Maple Ridge, having been in operation for 35 years. Hatchery volunteers take part in hatchery maintenance, broodstock and egg collection, fish feeding, tending to the fall fish fence, and a whole lot more.
